Ecuador: Colorado Mesa University PA Program

Join us for a transformative journey to an underserved neighborhood around Otavalo, Ecuador. You will work along side Tandana Foundation, an organization committed to long-term, community-driven initiatives in education, health, environment, and cultural preservation. This medical mission's team is designed for dedicated healthcare professionals and students eager to make an imPAct in the lives of those in need.

Trip Overview

Day 1: Arrival in Quito
Arrive in Quito, travel to Otavalo via scenic drive through Andes

Day 2 : Otavalo
Community introduction and cultural overview. Cultural activity.

Days 3–5: Community Engagement & Service
Daily visits to nearby rural communities. Projects may include:
• School support initiatives
• Public health outreach activities
• Environmental or sustainability projects
• Community center improvements
Afternoon cultural learning sessions and group reflection.

Day 6 – Cultural Immersion Day
Visit local artisans and traditional markets. Explore sacred sites such as Peguche Waterfall. Learn about Kichwa history and worldview.

Days 7–10 – Continued Community Partnership
Return to partner communities to continue projects and deepen relationships.
Evenings include leadership discussions on global health, equity, and sustainable service.

Day 11 – Andean Exploration
Excursion to surrounding highland villages and natural areas. Time for reflection and celebration dinner with community members.

Day 12 – Departure

Throughout this mission, you will be limited only by your abilities and the supplies you bring, but your commitment to serving those in need will know no bounds.
